This is a '99 Cobra 4V - balanced, stroked & bored to 5.0L with Manley rods & pistons. The valvetrain is stock, Steeda/BBK underdrive pulleys, stock intake system with a K&N filter. The engine management system is from the Detail Zone (http://www.thedetailzone.com/Customer%20Cars.htm) and is mounted behind the rear seat. The computer was reprogrammed by SCT for the car and has a custom tune by the engine builder (C & M Motorsports http://candmperformance.com/) with actual chassis dyno horsepower at 296 and 306 pound feet torque.
The exhaust includes Ford Racing shorty headers, 2.5" system with an "x" pipe, and Flowmaster series 40 mufflers.
The front suspension is a Rod & Custom Motorsport conversion with coil-over shock absorbers, tubular upper & lower control arms, 2" drop spindles, and power rack & pinion steering. I built custom 1" square tube braces that triangulate the shock mounts, the firewall, and the cowl braces to stiffen the front end up.
The radiator is an aluminum Howe 3-row with a 2700 CFM electric fan.
The clutch is stock with a Centerforce disc and a Ron Morris clutch cable conversion. The transmission mount I fabricated myself, and the shifter is from Steeda. The drive shaft is custom length steel and the rear axle is a 9" traction loc 28 spline with 3.50 gears.
The subframes are connected with welded braces and the Alston 4-point roll bar is also welded.
MP Brakes supplied the master cylinder, with Wilwood 4-piston Dynalite Pro Series Front Hub Kit & their Dynalite Pro Series 9" rear kit with 12.19" drilled & slotted discs. There's also a Wilwood proportioning valve installed next to the master cylinder.
The rear suspension is basically stock, with Traction Master traction bars, Stam-Bar adjustable sway bar, lowering kit, stiffer springs, and Gas-Adjust shocks. It may "need" to be changed to the Total Control coil over system...
The body had a full rotisserie restoration with Lizard Skin ceramic sound/heat insulation applied inside and out. The paint is 2006 Merc Redfire with all the britework refinished in satin black - either painted or powder coated.
I bead blasted the old Western 10-spoke wheels, powder coated them satin black, and polished the rims. The tires are 245/55R15 BFG Comp TA's.
The interior is fitted with Corbeau micro suede seats and 4-point harness - the remainder is custom with the same material/leather that the seats are made of. The headliner is new and I installed electric windows from Electric Life. The custom gauges are Auto Meter and I fabricated the gauge console with the window switches. The air conditioning is stock under the dash. Transport Refrigeration (DePere, WI) hooked up the '99 compressor to the stock condenser/drier & evaporator. It works great!!!
It's built as a street/road racer - NOT a show car and can be seen at various track events with the Northwoods Shelby Club.
Build it, drive it hard, fix it if it breaks, drive it hard again.
